FILMHARMONIC 74 PROGRAMME :.
There
is no known recording of the Mancini side of the concert,
although the programme clears states that this concert was
recorded and later offered in a recording. Of the three
conductors, a recording of Francis Lai music with Gaubert
conducting was released although with some changes.
Some of the songs performed with Mancini conducting have been
played in other recordings, such as the Tribute to Victor
Young and some of the Mancini themes, but not all of them,
such as Oklahoma Crude and Soldier in the Rain.
Similar to the concert on 1970, this was a recording of a concert at Albert Hall for
the The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.
One page reads:
Coming soon - A sensational film music album for your collection. Tonight's concert is being recorded by John Mosely, using Scoth (c) 206/2" tape on 24 track Mincom M79 recorders. After re-mixing at Ferber Studios - Paris, Warner Bros. Records wil release stereophonic and quadrophonic versions early in 1975.
The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund will benefit from the sales of the records and is grateful to John Mosely for donating his time and skill, to the 3M Company for providing the tape and the recorders at no charge and to the Sound Department of Samuelson Film Service Ltd. for installing specialised microphones. We are further indebted to Ronnie Aldrich, Christian Gaubert, Francis Lai and Henry Mancini for granting us permission to record their performances.
